Trivia

I like useless information. Trivia, factoids; call it what you will; I enjoy it. here, for your enjoyment, are factoids I have collected over the years.
  • Sugar doesn't make you hyperactive, it just gives you energy that you can use to be hyperactive.
  • Nintendo was originally a playing card company.
  • Blondie was originally called Angel and the Snakes.
  • Squirrels can run faster on trees than on the ground, and do not contract the rabies virus.
  • The best selling computer game is the Sims, with its sequel, the Sims 2, coming in 3rd.
  • The first computer, ENIAC, took up a city block. Now, a computer chip 1/2 inches square holds the same amount.
I hope  you enjoyed my trivia!

My New House

I live in a nice house. My mom recently moved into it, and I enjoy it greatly, as it means I have room to run around with my various dogs, much better than Mom's old apartment. the house is called Nutwood (Endearingly called the Nuthouse), and was previously lived in by a nutcase, who didn't take care of it. This means that, when we moved into it, it had a whole host of problems. Here I have them organized into a handy list!

  1. Evil vine from Heck eating the house

  2. Kitchen barely big enough to hold a stove

  3. Dining room painted to look like a Byzantine whorehouse

  4. Water leaking into the basement

  5. Rose vine entwined around the safety railing

  6. LIVE EXPOSED WIRES in the attic

  7. Everything else

However, all of these things can be fixed with time. Besides, the house is great!

Here's a picture of it.(By the way, did I mention that it's painted a sickly shade of Mint Green?)

Stop Motion

I have taken an interest in stop motion, a sort of animation made by moving objects very small amounts, and taking pictures of them. A lot of times they include Legos, as mine usually do. It's very time-consuming, but not actually as boring as it sounds. I have included a video I made about what happens if you don't look both ways before you cross the street.

Music and dancing

Why do people dance? Why do we listen to music? This is a question I have asked myself for years.  Recently, however, I found an article on dancing and the neurological implications in Scientific American, one of my favorite publications.(Second only to Muse)
Anyway, the article was about how dancing affects the brain. I was very interested to learn about a question that has puzzled me for a long time. I read it the whole way through, and discovered that, though scientists have not found irrefutable evidence for anything, a reasonable-sounding hypothesis was put forth; that dance evolved as a way of communicating through movement and sight. Music might have evolved alongside this, as sounds added to the motions. This is all very similar to the way bees communicate where flowers are.
I hope you have been entertained, or at least informed.

Free!

Well, in the supermarket today, my father, who is diabetic, was trying to get diet Coke. It turned out they didn't have any, so we had to get Pepsi.
One thing I noticed was that Pepsi had a special prize system by which you would get a 12-pack, find a special ultra-secret code inside the box, and you could exchange that for special ultra-secret prizes online, like music, movies, or small domesticated rodents. This sounded like a good deal, so I opened the box and got my special ultra-secret code. However, one thing I noticed was that, on the outside of the Pepsi box, it said, in tiny letters,

No purchase necessary.

I found it funny that they would say that, even though they had set it up so that the only
thing that WAS necessary was purchase. However, I was not surprised. You see these things all
the time. Why, just the other day, I noticed a cracker box that said, on the back,

Free DVD!
Just send check or money order...

The DVD wasn't free. The DVD cost 3.99, plus three Proof of Purchases.

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that THE FOOD INDUSTRY IS LYING TO THE
PEOPLE! They're conning us out of our hard earned money by saying that they're giving us free
stuff, when they're not. I warn the American public against the evils of free stuff from purveyors
of edible goods!
Later I went online to see what I had won. My special ultra-secret code was worth two-fifths of
an mp3 download.

Me Again

Well, as you may not know, I'm actually a bit young to have a blog, seeing as I'm in middle school. However, I believe that a blog is a healthy thing to have. It lets you, instead of just bottling up all of your anger, tension, and frustration, unleash it upon the world in a torrent of unbridled fury.

Or you can just use it to express your views. That works too.

Hi!

Welcome! My name is The Child, and I invite you to join me on my quest of insights, ideas, and intentions.
But first, My life story.

I am a child with a problem or two. My parents divorced a while ago, but I'm still being affected. A new kitten recently joined the mix, causing tension with my cat Chanthra, who is still stressed out after her sibling Dara died. A while ago I converted from Catholicism to Unitarian Universalism, but still I go to a catholic school. My mom and her partner recently moved into a house called Nutwood, and I'm very excited, as it means that I have space to run around with my dogs

If you want any more info, my mother posts things on her Pagan blog, Ephemera Ephemerae.

Anyway, I'll post things sometimes.
